Employee Participation

The Vodacom Yebo Heroes programme creates a platform for employees to share their time, talents and skills with the community. Through the identification of attractive opportunities within a secure environment, Vodacom employees are supported by management and the Vodacom Foundation to become involved in the broader South African community outside the office.

In its first 24 months, the programme already had some 1750 registered volunteers on its books. Painting a wall and planting vegetables in a shelter for abused women, cuddling a baby in a home for abandoned babies, spray painting their own and sports fans' heads in aid of a cancer charity, cleaning up a sensitive wetlands area or installing computer centres - these are some of the ways in which Yebo Heroes, as the Vodacom employees are known, are "showing their heart".
