Notes:

1.
Customer totals are based on the total number of customers registered on Vodacom’s network, which have not been disconnected, including inactive customers, as at the end of the period indicated. Prepaid customers inactive for three months were 17.4% (2008: 17.8 %) for Tanzania, 30.9% (2008: 21.9 %) for the DRC, 29.5% (2008: 34.9%) for Mozambique and 15.6% (2008: 15.7%) for Lesotho at 30 September 2009.
2.
Churn is calculated by dividing the average monthly number of disconnections during the period by the average monthly total of reported customers during the period.
3.
Total ARPU is calculated by dividing the average monthly recurring revenue by the average monthly total of reported customers during the period. Total ARPU excludes revenue from equipment sales and non-service revenue.
4.
ARPU numbers have been restated. Excise duty is now netted off against revenue in line with group accounting policies.
