Vodacom retains position as market leader
Monday, 14 November 2005 Vodacom Group (Pty) Limited (Vodacom), today announced its interim results for the six months ended 30 September 2005, retaining its leadership in the highly competitive South African mobile communications market with an estimated 57% market share.
Vodacom withdraws from Nitel deal in Nigeria
Friday, 21 October 2005 The Vodacom Group Board has decided not to proceed with its joint bid with Telkom for an equity stake in Nitel, Nigeria. As the Nigerian Government is not considering a separation of the fixed and mobile businesses of Nitel at this stage and as Vodacom's preference is to invest in a pure mobile player it has decided to withdraw from this process.
Vodacom grows its South African customer base to 16 million
Thursday, 20 October 2005 Vodacom today announced that its customer base in South Africa had passed the 16 million mark, further entrenching its market leadership and putting paid to long held speculation that the local market was nearing saturation.
Vodacom and Reunert sign far-reaching agreement
Wednesday, 19 October 2005 Vodacom and Reunert today confirmed that a long-term and far-reaching agreement has been signed whereby Reunert's wholly-owned subsidiary, Nashua Mobile, will be a preferred Independent Service Provider to the Vodacom network for at least the next five years - with an option of a further 5 years - at "highly satisfactory" terms for both parties.

Thursday, 20 January 2005 Vodacom Group (Pty) Ltd's Chief Communications Officer, Mthobi Tyamzashe, announced this morning that the outgoing SABC Group CEO, Mr Peter Matlare, will be joining Vodacom South Africa, in the capacity of Executive Director: Commercial, from 1 April 2005.
