Vodacom Mobile Media
The Loeries goes mobile
Monday, 20 April 2009
The Loerie Awards has gone mobile this year with an exciting new category which links in to the latest medium of brand communication. In partnership with Vodacom, the Loeries has created the Mobile Advertising Award, catering to the recent growth in the use of mobile devices in the advertising mix. "Mobile media is an exciting new addition to the world of advertising," notes Andrew Human, Managing Director of The Loerie Awards. "Internet advertising generated a new platform a few years ago and now mobile advertising is definitely the way of the future with the vast majority of South Africans being cellphone savvy."
Mobile media offers brands unlimited yet targeted exposure, as cellphones are always carried, and always on. Says Rick Joubert, head of Vodacom Mobile Advertising, "There is no doubt that mobile advertising revenues will continue to grow faster than any other media channel. The measurability and adaptability of the medium will ensure significantly increased mobile budgets for brands. Agencies can no longer ignore the power of integrating mobile into the marketing mix."
On his company's partnership with The Loerie Awards, Joubert enthuses, "All egos aside, it was an absolute no brainer when we were presented with the opportunity to be the Digital category sponsor for the Loeries. Not only are we extremely excited and proud to be part of this prestigious awards event but we firmly believe that the time has come for mobile advertising to be showcased as a mainstream advertising medium.
In order to promote the growth of this category, Vodacom is offering a special prize of two iPod touch devices and R50, 000 worth of advertising spend with Vodacom Mobile Media. The closing date for Loerie Awards entries is 15 May. For more information on categories and how to enter your work, go to http://www.theloerieawards.co.za/. Major Sponsors
