Funding

Vodacom believes in investing and contributing towards meaningful social investment initiatives which are relevant and have a positive impact on society.

Whilst project selection decisions are taken by Vodacom South Africa Foundation Board of Trustees ( who annually receive a budget allocation from the company), these decisions are not taken in isolation. Vodacom has strong relationships with the government departments of education and health, at national ,provincial, and local levels.

Programmes are normally also delivered by a number of implementing partners, each of whom provides particular expertise, and the Foundation enjoys a close working relationship with several initiatives that provide services in the healthcare area.

All projects need to follow a process of proactive engagement with relevant authorities, recipient communities and key expert solution providers. The benefits for the beneficiaries must be clear and the beneficiaries themselves must be clearly defined. The projects in which Vodacom invests must have a clear long-term plan for sustainability beyond Vodacom's funding.
