Pieter joined Vodacom in 1993 and held a number of senior positions including that of Managing Director of Vodacom SA from December 2001 to March 2005. He was the Chief Operating Officer of Vodacom Group, a post he held from April 2004 until his appointment as Chief Executive Officer of Vodacom Group in 1 October 2008. He was appointed to the Vodacom Group Board in April 2004.
