The health and safety of our customers, employees, contractors and the public is of paramount importance to Vodacom. As part of the Vodafone Group, we aim to lead the industry in responding to public concerns about mobile devices, masts and health by demonstrating leading edge practices and encouraging others to follow.
Our parent Vodafone has established a Board dedicated to radiofrequency (RF) matters that include representatives from some of Vodafone’s local operating companies, including Vodacom, and key functional areas. This Board monitors public concerns, helps Vodafone operating companies to provide public information and advice and reviews the available information about mobile devices, masts and health. The Board also sets strategy, policies and goals relating to mobile devices, masts and health. Vodacom is aligned with Vodafone’s commitment to:

The Vodafone Group is dedicated to developing the scientific understanding of the effects of mobile devices and base stations on health by contributing to funding independent scientific research into the priority areas identified by the World Health Organization. To ensure that the results of the research are independent of industry influence, Vodafone does not fund studies directly, but through national research programmes such as the second phase of the Mobile Telecommunications and Health Research Programme (MTHR 2) in the UK, the German Mobile Telecommunication Research Programme (DMF II). We ensure that the programmes we support require their research to be carried out to the highest standard, and publish their results in peer-reviewed literature to show that they are credible.
Since 2001, there have been a significant number of expert reviews of scientific research studies into mobile phones, masts and health published by expert panels around the world read more: Expert reviews
