Education projects

Education is the foundation of a strong nation, and Vodacom places a premium on supporting educational projects.

Vodacom 21st Century Educator

In partnership with the Department of Education and other companies, we are establishing specialised ICT Resource Centres in each province to address the needs of the 21st century teacher in South Africa. Two centres have already been established in Mpumalanga and North West provinces while third ICT Resource Centre is being built in Gauteng.

The khwezi (Star) project’s key objectives are:

•	To establish regional ICT Resource Centres for use by educators and learners
•	To deliver free training and online educational support to the educators on an on-going basis
•	To provide and host online e-Education content to ensure access to information and educational content

Other initiatives that we support include:

•	South African Institute for Chartered Accountants (Thuthuka Bursary Fund)
•	AWCA (African Womens Chartered Accountants)
•	Walter Sisulu University Chair
•	Vodacom NMMU (Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University) Scholarship
•	Undergraduate bursaries
•	Refurbished PC’s
•	Teacher Enrichment Programmes
