Vodacom operates in four countries outside of South Africa: Tanzania, the DRC, Mozambique and Lesotho. The international operations cover a total population of approximately 134 million in these countries, which have a blended mobile penetration rate of less than 25%. The international operations had 12.0 million customers and generated R7 003 million in revenue in the year ended 31 March 2009, contributing 30.3% and 12.7% to group customers and revenue, respectively. The international operations contributed 10.1% to group EBITDA for the year ended 31 March 2009.
