Mobile Education Programme
The Vodacom Mobile Education Programme provides quality Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment and Internet access to thousands of teachers and learners.
To empower teachers, we’ve partnered with the Department of Basic Education (DBE), Microsoft, Cisco, Intel and Mindset to establish ICT Resource Centres which provide development training with a focus on ICT Literacy, as well as the effective use and integration of digital content in the classroom. To date, we’ve provided equipment and Internet connectivity to 1 615 schools to improve the learning experience.

The Vodacom Mobile Education programme offers:
We’ve trained over 20 000 teachers on development and the use of ICT to help improve their teaching skills. The teachers are also trained on how to integrate ICT in their classrooms. In partnership with the DBE, we’ve trained 130 centre managers through teacher centre and financial management courses, as well as 45 district e-learning specialists on the integration of ICT in the classroom.
By the end of the 2015/2016 financial year, a total of 81 teachers’ centres will be equipped and connected to offer teacher development courses, youth training on ICT and community programmes.
A gateway offering free Internet access has been created for teachers on the programme to promote learning anytime, anywhere. Vodacom Foundation offers Internet connectivity to the schools and centres we support, thus giving teachers and learners access to digital resources.
